Frequently asked questions
Steps differ slightly by platform. Each answer is labelled Android, iOS, or both where that matters.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Android: Open Google Play → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → PurePath → Cancel subscription. You can also use Google Play's subscription page.
iOS: Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → PurePath → Cancel Subscription.
Deleting PurePath does not cancel a subscription. Access normally continues until the end of the paid period. Vectis Innovation Labs cannot cancel a store subscription on your behalf.
Will the free trial start charging automatically?
Android: The yearly subscription includes a seven-day free trial for eligible new customers. Google Play confirms eligibility and shows the yearly price that will be charged when the trial ends. Unless you cancel first, the trial converts to that automatically renewing yearly plan.
Any trial shown by Google Play or the App Store converts to the displayed paid plan unless you cancel before it ends. The store purchase screen confirms eligibility, price, billing period, and renewal terms before you buy. PurePath may send a reminder if you allow notifications, but you should manage the subscription directly in your store account.
How do I turn on the Android Content Shield?
Open PurePath → Content Shield. Review the Accessibility disclosure, open Android's accessibility settings, select PurePath, and allow the service. Return to PurePath, choose the apps or site controls you want, turn protection on, and tap Apply protection. Keep both the in-app shield and the Android Accessibility service enabled.
Why does Android ask for Accessibility permission?
Android has no direct equivalent of Apple's Screen Time blocking framework. PurePath uses an Accessibility service to identify the current app and, in supported browsers, read the address bar so it can compare the app or domain with your block rules. That processing happens on your device. Address-bar values are not logged, stored, or transmitted. See the privacy policy for the complete disclosure.
A blocked Android app still opens. What should I check?
Confirm that PurePath's Accessibility service is on in Android settings, protection is on inside PurePath, the app is selected, and you tapped Apply protection after making changes. Some apps briefly hand off to a separate sign-in or system screen; the shield follows supported hand-offs and may appear just after that transition. If the Accessibility service was turned off or stopped, reopen Content Shield and re-enable it.
Adult sites are not being blocked on Android. What should I check?
Confirm that the adult-site filter and protection are both on, tap Apply protection, and verify PurePath's Accessibility service remains enabled. Website blocking works in compatible browsers whose address bar Android exposes to the service. An in-app browser, a changed browser interface, or a browser that does not expose its address bar may not be supported. You can add a domain manually in Content Shield and open it in a supported browser to test.
Why does iOS ask for Screen Time permission?
On iOS, the Content Shield uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to block selected apps and websites. iOS requires you to grant that permission. Apple represents selections with opaque tokens, so PurePath and Vectis Innovation Labs cannot read which apps and sites you selected.
Is my data private?
PurePath has no app account, advertising, analytics, or recovery-data server. Recovery entries and blocking settings stay on your device. Android's optional Accessibility-based shield processes the current app and supported browser address bar locally, without storing or transmitting address-bar values. Purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store. See the privacy policy for details and the limited exceptions for support email, store billing, and links you choose to open.
My accountability partner forgot the code. Can you reset it?
No. The partner code is converted to a one-way hash and stored only on your device. PurePath and Vectis Innovation Labs cannot view, recover, or remotely reset it. Your partner should keep the original code somewhere secure when protection is set up.
Will my progress move to a new phone?
Android: Automatic cloud backup and device transfer are switched off. Before changing phones, open PurePath → Settings → Save an encrypted backup, choose a strong password, and keep both the file and password safe. On the new device, use Restore from a backup. PurePath cannot recover the file or password.
iOS: App data may move as part of an Apple-managed encrypted device backup or phone transfer, depending on your iOS and account settings. PurePath does not run a separate sync service.
How do I restore a purchase?
Use the same Google Play or Apple account that made the purchase, then reopen PurePath with an internet connection. The app checks the store for active subscriptions and lifetime purchases. If access does not return, restart the app and confirm the purchase is visible in your store account before contacting support.
How do I delete everything?
Open PurePath → Settings → Delete everything and confirm. This permanently erases the app data on that device and clears Content Shield configuration. Deleting the app also removes its local app data. Android backup files you exported and Apple-managed device backups are outside the app and must be deleted separately if you no longer want them.
Is PurePath a substitute for therapy?
No. PurePath is a self-help tool, not medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or a crisis service. It can be used alongside support from a qualified counselor, doctor, or support group.
